Victoria University Enterprise Agreement 2019: Understanding the Key Features
Victoria University has recently entered into a new Enterprise Agreement for the years 2019-2022. The agreement, which was approved by the Fair Work Commission in October 2019, outlines the terms and conditions of employment for staff members, including academic and professional staff. In this article, we take a closer look at the key features of the Victoria University Enterprise Agreement 2019.
Wages and Salary Increases
One of the most significant changes in the new Enterprise Agreement is related to salary increases. Under this agreement, staff members are entitled to a 2% pay increase each year for the duration of the agreement. This increase is in addition to any incremental increases that may apply to some staff members. This means that overall, staff members can expect a 6% salary increase over the three-year period of the agreement.
Casual Conversion
Another important feature of the Enterprise Agreement is the provision for casual conversion. This means that after 12 months of continuous employment, casual staff members have the right to request conversion to ongoing employment. The employer is required to respond to this request within 21 days, and if the request is denied, the employer is required to provide reasons for the decision.
Leave Entitlements
The new Enterprise Agreement also includes several important changes to leave entitlements. Staff members are now entitled to 10 days of domestic and family violence leave per calendar year. They are also entitled to 52 weeks of unpaid parental leave, with the option to extend that leave for an additional 12 months. In addition, staff members who have completed ten years of continuous service are entitled to an additional two weeks of annual leave.
Professional Development
The Enterprise Agreement also provides for professional development opportunities for staff members. This includes support for ongoing professional development and training, as well as opportunities for staff members to apply for study leave or sabbaticals. Staff members are also entitled to paid time off to attend conferences and other professional development activities.
Overall, the Victoria University Enterprise Agreement 2019 is an important document that outlines the terms and conditions of employment for staff members. From increases in salary and leave entitlements to provisions for casual conversion and professional development, the new agreement aims to provide a fair and supportive working environment for staff members.
